Wallpaper Calculator

Enter your wall dimensions to find how many wallpaper rolls you need, accounting for pattern repeat and waste. A standard European roll covers about 28 ft² after trimming and matching.

You need approximately
14 rolls
covers 368 ft² (incl. waste)
Area to cover
368 ft²
Exact amount
13.14 rolls

Field notes

Buy every roll from the same batch (dye-lot) number — colors drift between print runs and a mismatched roll shows under raking light. A big pattern repeat is what drives waste up to 15–20%, because you trim each strip to align the design; a random or free-match paper wastes closer to 10%. Measure wall height plus the repeat length when you estimate, not just the wall.

How the wallpaper calculator works

The math behind the tool:

rolls = wall area ÷ usable roll coverage × (1 + waste%)

Frequently asked questions

How many rolls of wallpaper do I need?

Multiply room perimeter by wall height for total area, divide by the usable coverage per roll (about 28 ft² for a standard roll), then add 15% for pattern matching and waste.

How does pattern repeat affect wallpaper?

A large pattern repeat wastes more paper at each strip because you trim to align the design; add 15–20% for big repeats versus about 10% for a random match.
